I have been shooting since the age of four, when my Dad took me out in the back yard in South Africa and put me behind a suppressed .22 LR, where we shot plastic cups when Mom was at church. Since then I have always had a fascination with marksmanship and hunting, but have not been able to fully explore that passion until recently when we moved to Canada in 2006 from England. A good majority of my shooting and learning has been done in the field behind .223's, .243's, 7 mm Rem Mag's, 9.3x62's, 6.5x55 Swede's, 20 and 12 Gauges, up until recently when I worked for almost 5 years at a local gun store.
I have found precision shooting and precision reloading to be a never ending learning experience, with new lessons to be learned every time you go to the range or sit at the reloading bench, which appeals to my inner tinkerer! That's why I fully acknowledge my relative inexperience when compared to shooters who have been at this for 10 or 20 years, but I hope to learn from their collective knowledge and mistakes. I shot my first Tactical match in 2015 and have been hooked ever since! I started building my current rifle after that match, starting with a dead standard Tikka T3 LH in 22-250 and going piece by piece, changing and swapping out components as I learned more and could afford more, ending up with the current setup only a month ago!
I plan to compete much more this year than in previous years, learning that the best way to gain experience is just to get out and shoot more! Joining up with MDT as a sponsored shooter in January of 2018 has helped facilitate my ability to shoot as many matches as I have planned in many local leagues as well as national leagues like the PRS and NRL! I hope to have a good rookie season and get MDT some more recognition amongst precision rifle shooters as the excellent brand that it is!
