Gage Caples takes 2nd & Team MDT dominates the UK
Happy New Year!
Earlier this December, Team MDT shooter Gage Caples competed in the Texas Precision Club Finale and had a wet yet successful match! We caught up with Gage for a quick interview.
From Gage, "A week before the TX Precision December Centerfire Match, we knew the conditions wouldn't be favorable, but we still went out to shoot it because we're hard-headed. We headed to the range on Friday to check dope, and the match director, Prentice Wink, came out and said the rain would be gone by 8 o'clock. Boy, was he wrong?!
Saturday morning was dark and gloomy. By the time the safety brief ended, it started pouring—and it didn't stop for three straight hours which caused us to have to start and stop because we couldn't see any of the targets. Another challenge was with each stage you needed to fish out your precious brass in six-inch mud pits. After every stage, we immediately covered our rifles, but even with the covers, water still managed to get into our actions, which caused difficult bolt lifts as the day went on. But still, with the rain, mud, and weather delay, I was able to stay mentally focused and work my way through the challenges of the day.
As we gathered around to applaud the weekend winners, some of Texas' best, I learned that I had finished the match two points behind John Indelicatti, a fellow Roberts Precision Rifles team shooter. While he took home the win, I tied for second with Zane Kuhn and won second place on the tiebreaker stage. I hit 73 shots out of 79 possible.
A Top 3 Open placement has been a goal of mine this year, and I am thankful to have ended my 2024 season by achieving this goal. This was a fantastic way to end an unforgettable 2024 season; let's see what 2025 holds!"
Joe Pask with a 1st place finish!
Across the Atlantic, Team MDT managed to sweep the podium and claim all 3 top spots at a recent NRL22 match held at the Derwent Valley Gun Club in the UK! Joe Pask took 1st place, Sam Steward 2nd, and Ryan Charlton in 3rd.
According to Ryan, "Getting to spend the day with some of my favorite people was the perfect way to round off the year. Everyone took turns getting stuck in with the timer and spotting, which is exactly what this sport is all about!"
Sam Steward with a 2nd place win!
Ryan Charlton with a 3rd place finish! Congratulations everyone!
Thank you for a fantastic year!
