Integrally Suppressed 6mm Creedmoor Hunting Rifle - Inside MDT

While I am no stranger to shooting, I am definitely a newbie when it comes to hunting. The leap from the range to the field has been exciting and humbling. Along the way, I've sought plenty of guidance and valuable advice. I've been lucky enough to have a mentor with serious credentials in long-range shooting, military experience, and instruction. That mentor happens to be my husband, Rob Orgel! Rob helped me choose the perfect rifle for my hunt: a Suppressed Weapons Systems bolt-action 6mm Creedmoor. This rifle is not only incredibly accurate but also unbelievably quiet.

The 6mm Creedmoor offers a flat, fast trajectory with very little recoil—no bruised shoulders here! Known for its precision and low kick, it is ideal for hitting long-range targets. Plus, with the suppressor attached, it's remarkably quiet, which is a huge advantage in the field. Stealth is often just as important as accuracy, particularly when hunting in areas where animals are skittish or easily spooked. It's the perfect balance of power and subtlety!

Note the integrally suppressed barrel.

OPTICS AND CHASSIS SYSTEM

For optics, we went with the Vortex top-of-the-line Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56mm scope. The clarity and light transmission make it super easy to spot targets, even in low-light conditions, and its reliability in tough environments is a great bonus. Plus, the Vortex lifetime warranty gives you peace of mind, knowing any issues will be taken care of! To take things up a notch, we added a Ruff's Precision Manufacturing bubble level to the rifle. This simple yet effective tool ensures the rifle is perfectly level before each shot—crucial when shooting at long distances. Even a slight cant can mess with your accuracy, so this addition is a game-changer, especially for those extended-range shots where precision is key. Plus, it gives me a little extra confidence, knowing I'm aiming straight for success!

For a chassis system, we chose the Modular Driven Technology ACC Premier. The MDT chassis gives us some fantastic customization options for maximum comfort and stability. One feature I love is the folding stock, which makes the rifle compact and easy to carry in a backpack during hikes. This is especially helpful when you're covering long distances on foot, as it keeps the rifle safe while being easy to grab when I need it. Plus, the MDT chassis lets me customize the cheek weld, which helped me fine-tune the rifle's ergonomics. That small adjustment made a huge difference in my shooting posture, keeping me comfortable and consistent in my position.

The first time I took the rifle to the range, I was completely blown away by its performance! With my first three rounds, I managed to group them into an incredible 0.25-inch pattern, which is exceptional for a hunting rifle. That level of accuracy was super encouraging and really fired me up (pun intended) to hit the range and train more often. Over the next few weeks, I practiced with the rifle from various shooting positions, including prone and tripod setups, at different distances and targets. The more I shot, the more confidence I gained in the rifle, and I quickly fell in love with it! It began to feel like an extension of myself, and I grew more comfortable with each trigger pull. With its low recoil, precision, and overall comfort, shooting became an absolute joy, and before I knew it, I quickly developed both confidence and a strong connection with this rifle. It's safe to say I'm hooked on my new favorite toy!

One choice that some might think is out of the ordinary is my decision to go with a left-handed action, even though I'm right-handed. At first, it might seem a little unreasonable, but I've found that in certain situations—especially when shooting from the prone position or on a tripod—a left-handed action lets me take quicker follow-up shots without shifting my hand off the fire control. It may seem like a small detail, but it can make a difference between nailing a shot and missing it, especially when hunting, and every second counts.

The MDT ACC is a highly adaptable chassis system.

AMMO SELECTION AND FIELD TESTING

When it was time to pick my ammunition, I chose Sierra Ammunition's 107-grain MatchKing (SMK) rounds. Although these rounds are crafted for precision rather than expansion, I was thoroughly impressed by their outstanding accuracy and consistency. The 107-grain SMK rounds boast a high ballistic coefficient, which really enhances their long-range performance. With such exceptional accuracy, I felt confident that I had found the perfect fit for my hunting needs.

While the 6mm Creedmoor is perfect for medium-sized game, I've quickly developed a real appreciation for this rifle build. Its accuracy, quietness, and comfort make it an exceptional hunting companion, and I can't wait to see how it performs when I take larger game. How I've adapted to this rifle and the confidence I've built while shooting it have made it a standout in my hunting experience.

Success!

As I continue to sharpen my skills and venture into the world of bigger animals, I know this rifle will be right there with me, serving as my dependable sidekick. It's a testament to the thought and care that went into selecting the right gear for the job. As I gain more experience and face new challenges, this rifle will be ready for whatever the hunt brings. In the hunting world, having the right rifle is just part of the equation. It really is all about the time spent training, building confidence, and mastering the nuances that make the difference. With this rifle in hand, I feel fully equipped for the journey ahead, and I'm excited for all the hunts yet to come!
