Swapping Barreled Actions From Chassis to Chassis - MDT Mention
The Snipers Hide YouTube Channel recently posted a cool video that answers the question, "What happens to your rifle if you take it out of one chassis and put it into another one?" To answer this question, the host, Chris Way, shoots a series of groups with an Impact Barreled Action chambered in .308 Winchester. The barreled action is swapped between an MDT Elite Chassis System and an Accuracy International AT-X Chassis System.
Mark notes that the first (three shot) groups from each setup when chassis were swapped had one inconsistent impact. After a slight adjustment, each rifle setup shot consistently accurate groups. No accuracy degradation was recorded regardless of how many times the rifle action was swapped between chassis systems.
Chris did a fantastic job explaining the groups.
Mr. Way mentions that it is important to differentiate shooter inconsistencies from equipment inconsistencies when performing a test like this. The host states he would be comfortable swapping the above chassis systems in the field because the group shifts were negligible.
Chris Way is the owner of Rifle Kraft and the creator of the Rifle Kraft Evaluation System.
