Weatherby Model 307 Alpine MDT - MDT Mention

Ammunition and firearm manufacturer Weatherby recently released the “Model 307 Alpine MDT” bolt-action rifle. This rifle is a variation of the Weatherby Model 307, which is currently manufactured and sold in two configurations: a traditional rifle form factor and a model that features our MDT HNT26 Chassis. The Model 307 features a 2-Lug, Remington 700-style action compatible with an array of aftermarket parts like triggers and scope mounts.

The Weatherby Model 307 Alpine MDT features a graphite black Cerakote finish on the Model 307 action, barrel, and muzzle brake. The rifle’s action allows for tool-less disassembly and makes use of an M16-style extractor. The included trigger is an externally adjustable TriggerTech field trigger, and the action is topped with a PEAK 44 Picatinny rail. Model 307 Alpine MDT Barrel lengths vary from 22 inches to 26 inches depending on caliber, of which there are 15 choices.

  • 300 Weatherby Mag

  • 6.5 Weatherby RPM

  • 7mm Remington Mag
  • 28 Nosler
  • 300 PRC
  • 7mm PRC

The presence of fifteen separate caliber choices from 6.5 Creedmoor to .300 Winchester Magnum is refreshing, as some manufacturers move towards providing fewer caliber choices for precision bolt-action rifles. While most of the specifications listed above are standard for the Model 307 line of bolt-action rifles, this model is unique due to the MDT HNT 26 Chassis System.

The MDT HNT 26 Chassis is built to be as lightweight as possible while providing all of the benefits of a chassis system. The HNT26 features V-block bedding, length of pull adjustability, an adjustable cheek riser, AICS magazine compatibility, and an integral ARCA rail on the bottom of the chassis forend. The HNT 26 is constructed of magnesium alloy and carbon fiber, weighing 26 ounces, just under five ounces heavier than an unloaded Gen 4 Glock 19. This weight, or lack thereof, in conjunction with the folding stock, allows hunters to hike, track, and travel as quickly and efficiently as possible compared to a traditional hunting rifle. The Model 307 Alpine MDT is purpose-built to allow hunters a lightweight but sturdy platform that can take abuse and is easy to move with.
