Texas Plinking - 6.5 Creedmoor Rifle - MDT Mention
The YouTube Channel “Texas Plinking” recently posted a video detailing the host’s new 6.5 Creedmoor bolt action rifle, which consists of a Howa 1500 barreled action mated to an MDT ESS Chassis System. The host also discusses his new Bergara Divide Rifle.
As previously mentioned, the host took a Howa 1500 barreled action with a carbon fiber barrel sourced from Brownells, then attached it to an MDT ESS Chassis Systems, which was configured on the MDT website. For the build, the host chose a folding stock adapter, a full-length rail and handguard, and an OD Green finish. An Atlas Bipod is mounted underneath the handguard with an American Defense mount. At the end of the barrel of the rifle is a HUXWORX OSS Flow-through suppressor. The host states he likes using this suppressor on his bolt-action rifles because he likes the way it mounts via a taper and has no rattle. The host also notes the possibility that it may keep the barrel of the rifle cleaner than a traditional suppressor. On top of the rifle is a 6-36x56 Gen 3 Vortex Razor mounted with 34mm Vortex Scope Rings.
Starting the shooting portion of the video, the host shoots at steel targets at 950 yards. In the second shot, the host makes hits on a full-sized IPSC silhouette, and the shooter moves to shoot at twelve-inch circular steel targets. The next three shots at the twelve-inch steel target hit their mark, followed by a five-round series of shots at a five-inch steel target, of which one shot landed on target at 950 yards. After covering the Howa 1500/ESS Build the host shoots the lightweight Bergara Divide with good results.
The MDT ESS is perfect for Law Enforcement, varmint hunting, night vision applications and general long-range shooting. The ESS can be configured with different colors and handguards on the MDT site.
With the ready-to-shoot Howa 1500 action, an MDT ESS chassis, and the previously-mentioned 6-36x56 Gen 3 Vortex Razor optic, the host was able to strike steel with basic target ammunition at almost 1000 Yards. This is a great setup if you want to get into long-range shooting.
