Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical - MDT Mention
Editor's Note: In 2018, I had the pleasure of testing a Mossberg Patriot Predator at our cattle ranch in New Mexico. The rifle was chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Whatever factory ammo I fed through it was sub-moa, and I had no problems shooting a 24-inch plate at 1,800 yards with Hornady 147 ELDM. The Mossberg Patriot series are economical, high-quality rifles perfect for hunting and long-range shooting. ~ Thomas Gomez, MDT Editor-In-Chief
While you may relate Mossberg to their iconic Shotguns, they have produced some well–built and competitively priced centerfire caliber rifles since the early 2000s. The “Patriot” line of rifles was released by Mossberg in 2015, which is composed of traditional hunting-style bolt action rifles with spiral-fluted bolts and adjustable triggers. Mossbergs latest iteration of the Patriot is the Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical which features MDTs new Field Stock.
The LR Tactical rifle boasts a 22 or 24-inch blued medium-bull threaded barrel. The 22-inch barrel comes with the .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor rifles. The 24-inch barrel comes on the 6.5 PRC rifle. The optic mounting system on the LR Tactical is a 20 MOA Picatinny rail. What is unique about the Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical is that it uses the new MDT Field Stock. The MDT Field Stock has the form factor of a traditional rifle stock with the benefits of a chassis rifle system. The Field Stock features an aluminum bedding surface, adjustable comb and length-of-pull, M-LOK slots, and sling swivels on the handguard and fore-end. The MDT Field Stock weighs 3.1 lbs.
