Pursuit of Accuracy: MDT Premier Gen2 CZ 457 Build

Pursuit of Accuracy: MDT Premier Gen2 CZ 457 Build

The MDT ACC Premier Gen 2 for the CZ 457 is positioned as a more affordable, stripped-down version of the ACC Elite, designed to bring many of MDT’s premium, competition-focused features to a wider group of shooters. In the video, Josh from Pursuit of Accuracy breaks down exactly where MDT trimmed costs, where they didn’t, and how the chassis performs on the range.

ELITE, BUT SIMPLIFIED

At first glance, the ACC Premier Gen 2 clearly borrows heavily from the ACC Elite. The fore-end is thicker, more rigid, and compatible with the same control bridges and accessories shooters have come to expect from MDT’s higher-end chassis systems. The biggest change is size. The Gen 2 uses a shorter 15-inch fore-end. Again, this choice is designed to reduce costs while accommodating those who want to build a more “tactical”-style rifle with a shorter barrel. To offset that shorter length, MDT offers an optional forend tip weight that adds balance and a little more usable forend space.

The chassis also drops some of the ACC Elite’s premium conveniences. Adjustable cheek riser and length-of-pull settings now require tools rather than quick on-the-fly adjustments, and the chassis ships with the standard Premier grip instead of the more aggressive Elite grip. Even so, Josh repeatedly points out that none of those compromises feel like deal-breakers, given the chassis’s $1,099 price point compared with the Elite’s much steeper cost.

BUILT FOR COMPETITION

One of the standout improvements is the redesigned magazine area for the CZ 457. MDT added a large relief cut around the magwell, making magazine changes off the bench dramatically easier. Josh notes that although the cutout is partially blocked when shooting off a bag during PRS or NRL22 stages, it’s still a meaningful upgrade over previous chassis designs.

On the range, the ACC Premier Gen 2 performs exactly as expected from MDT. The chassis feels solid, balances surprisingly well even with a 24-inch, .9-diameter barrel, and provides a stable shooting platform without excessive added weight. Josh especially sees potential for younger shooters or competitors who don’t want a massive 20-plus-pound rifle.

FINAL THOUGHTS

By the end of the video, the takeaway is simple: MDT captured much of what shooters loved about the ACC Elite while trimming just enough features to reach a far more approachable price point. It may not have every premium adjustment or feature of the Elite, but the ACC Premier Gen 2 still delivers the rigidity, balance, and competition-ready feel serious rimfire shooters are looking for.
