Bought the hood in order to mount a PVS-27 on. The rail is above the scope base. I use a Farrell 20 MOA scope base. So not some thin scope base at all. The front "NV" hood look cools but for a practical NV clip on usage is not well designed at all. There is room for this to be made to sit lower. That way it can be actually used with NV clip-ons. Go back to the drawing board and lower it! And least you come here to say it is designed to use your high bases. With the high base you recommend. How about a picture showing that base height in relation to the NV hood base sight.
Another point is the attachment method. I get the m-lock sounds cool yet Have any of you actually used this set up? To remove the hood in order to remove the barreled action is a poor design. When re-attaching the hood I have to use forceps to hold the M-lock clamps in place and then start the screws in them. Why not simply leave the sides of the forend solid and have it threaded so that the hood can be removed much easier and less swear words being used. So if you make a version 3, which you should consider these points. Leave sides solid, at least where hood will attach and thread it so that the hood attaches easier. Make the hood lower profile to make it practical and useable in real world applications.
Again points for rigidity to the forend for a tacti-cool factor. Yet for actual usage with clip-on night vision set ups. This leaves a lot to be desired. Put someone who has used NV in charge of the design next time. I expect you to put out a product worthy of the MDT name.
