Review for Tikka owners specifically:
This is one of those products that have excellent build quality and love the team behind it, but the functionality is rough around the edges. For starters, it's the only 300 Winchester Magnum Magazine MDT makes that's compatible with any long action Tikka chassis (for me, it's the Field Stock). Some of the issues I find:
1. It leaves some light marring/marking on the action of the Tikka, which doesn't affect functionality but it's definitely not ideal (I almost went crazy trying to find out what was causing it on my bolt, and I just realized today it was this magazine). It appeared on my bolt after I first swapped out the factory stock for the Field Stock, bothered me enough to go get it fluted and polished, just for it to come back again with use.
1. The stamped metal folds at the bottom of the magazine where the steel is folded together is quite sharp at the edges - I filed them down until they were round so it's more comfortable to carry with the rifle on my back.
2. As another review has stated, this is more of a 3 round magazine if you want easy loading - the last 2 bullets become really difficult to shove in there due to the stiffness of the spring
3. This isn't really a big deal but if you're a reloader who collects your used cases, the feed lips will catch really hard on the first 2 rounds if you load all 5 rounds, which causes deep scratching along the entirety of the spent casing
4. Not necessarily a fault with this magazine, but because MDT (or any other manufacturer) doesn't make a 3.56" AICS polymer magazine for the Tikka 300 WM, if you want a lighter weight hunting mag you're unfortunately out of luck. And this is definitely not a hunting magazine!
Please make a polymer version for the Tikka 3.56" 300 Win Mag! Thank you
